The second-hand marketplace Members Express Displeasure Over Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
